Alaska Airlines halted all departures at all US airports on Thursday due to a technical issue.
The US carrier announced that it was "facing an system disruption affecting flight schedules" and issued "a temporary ground stop."
The carrier did not disclose the duration the disruption would continue or the number of flights were affected. It said it was "actively restoring our services" after the incident.
The ground stop also impacted Horizon Air, which is operated by the parent company, as per an advisory by the aviation authority.
Alaska Airlines, a member of The airline group based in the Pacific Northwest, primarily operates on the West Coast of the United States. It connects numerous locations globally, including 37 states and 12 countries, as stated on its online platform.
Last year, the airline joined forces with Hawaiian Airlines, which was not impacted by Thursday's ground stop.
It is the latest technical failure impacting the carrier in recent months. Earlier this year, an outage halted flights for about three hours.
Alaska Airlines did not provide a comment on Thursday to requests for comment.
Air transportation in the US has been disrupted in recent weeks due to federal budget issues that began recently. Lack of flight controllers reporting for duty has caused delays at multiple locations.
